Ways to Earn – Selling – Understanding the Marketplace


The empowr Marketplace
citizens can sell products, services, and premium content as a way to earn.  As citizens build trust with each other, they are extending the amount of 2-way reciprocal relationships they are building.  This means that the more reciprocal relationships that you have (or, the larger your Circle of Trust), the more you stand to earn from participating in the marketplace.
As a Success Coach, it's important that you understand how the marketplace works, that way you can better assist your clients to be productive citizens within the empowr economy.

Here is an overview of the empowr marketplace.

Selling on empowr 

Citizens can list products, services, or Premium Blogs.  It is important that your client understand how to create a quality listing that will maximize their earning potential.

Step 1: Select what you will be selling 
To list a product or service in the marketplace, go to the “Marketplace” in the left navigation bar. 


You will now choose to list a Product, Service, or Blog.



If you are listing digital content (blogs, e-books, recipes, downloadable music, etc.) it MUST be listed as a Premium Blog.

All digital content that is NOT listed as Premium Blog, will be rejected for listing - which may affect your ability to hit your daily goals (more on that soon).

Listing a Service

If your client is listing a service, it is important that they are as clear and specific as possible in the description.  They should include any necessary information so that the buyer fully understands what is included in their purchase.  

They should also do their best to make sure they’ve listed their service in the correct Category, so that their service can easily be found by shoppers.

It’s important to note that empowr shows citizens to other citizens located closest to them geographically.  This greatly improves the chances that they will be able to sell their services to other empowr citizens, nearby.   This is another reason why it’s so important that all citizens properly input their location into their account settings.


Listing a Product

Why Products are important:

As previously mentioned, empowr is a growing economy.  Its success is dependent upon its quality.  Its quality is determined by what is available for people to buy.  It is crucial that your clients understand how the quality of their listings, affects how successful the overall economy will be.

Remind your clients to focus on quality items. A general rule of thumb is, “would I myself pay for this item?” If the answer is YES, then list the item for sale!

Figuring out what products to list can be challenging.  But it doesn’t have to be!  Remind your clients that they can simply list household items that they aren’t using anymore.  Are they thinking about having a yard sale? Tell them to list their items on empowr instead.  



Step 2: Describe the listing 

Next, you’ll provide information on your listing that give the buyer a clear understanding of what will be provided and entice them to buy your product or service.

It is important that your client properly name, display, and describe their listing.  The goal is to minimize any confusion or questions from the buyer, which in turn reduces any chance of marketplace disputes.

Click “Continue” and you’ll be taken to the next screen.


Step 3: Set your pricing 

What is the minimum you want to earn for each sale? 

If you choose an auction listing, you should set the starting bid to $0.01 to gain the most interest. empowr will add a percentage to cover the amount paid to the people that promote your product. 

If you are selling a product that requires shipping ADD IT IN to your base product price. There is no way to go back and charge for shipping after the sale. If you sell a service or Premium Blog - obviously you won’t have to worry about shipping. 

If you’re selling a cool custom t-shirt for and you’re happy getting $10.00 per shirt, and it costs you $5.00 to ship those shirts to your buyers, your base price would need to be $15.00.

empowr will automatically add a small percentage on top of your base price. Why does empowr do this? 

When you sell an item you get (90%) of the final sales price, and empowr receives the other 10%. 

Of that 10%, 2% is paid to anyone that promoted the listing by bidding, liking, commenting, reposting or creating an ad for the listing that resulted in a sale.


Set Payment Frequency 

Next, tell your buyer if they are paying you once or they will have money deducted monthly. 
  • One-time purchase 
  • Monthly recurring subscription are your choices here.

Step 4: Quantity Available 

You will either be filling in a number and when the last product is sold, your listing won’t be shown until you reset the number. Or if you’re selling a premium blog package or service you will probably want to click “unlimited”. 


Step 5: Set Criteria: Sponsoring, Shipping and Buyer Requirements 

Sponsoring 

When selling a product, service or Premium Blog package, you’ll notice you can allow it to be Sponsored. 

So how does Sponsoring work and benefit the seller? 

Anytime that someone purchases a new product, service, or Premium Blog package, they will have the opportunity to: 
  • Keep the item for themselves 
  • Sponsor (resell) the listing and turn right back around and put the product up for sale

Allowing listings to be Sponsored increases the earning potential for that listing. 
  • The seller gets the full earnings from their initial sale 
  • And the seller additionally gets 5% of subsequent sales from those that sponsored it 
  • That means you can actually earn over 100% of the final price of your product by having others Sponsor your products

The seller has the option to allow Sponsoring for the products and services sold, and can give the Sponsor up to 60 days to resell the product if it is Sponsored.

Free Shipping To 

This is the default. Simply calculate in any shipping or handling charges and you will be stating them to your buyer in the Notes to Buyer section coming up. 

Buyer Requirements 

As a seller, you have the ability to block people from using Pay Now $0 (see below) to purchase or Sponsor your listing if they do not meet the buyer requirements that you have set. 

You have the ability to accept buyers based on: 

1) If they have a payment source attached to their account or not 
2) How many Unpaid Items a buyer has in a certain time period 
3) Whether a buyer is located in your country 
4) The community score of your buyer 

To not allow people to Sponsor your listing, simply unclick the “Sponsor” button when you create the listing. If you’d like to set your buyer requirements, click “Edit Buyer Requirements.”

Notes to Buyer 
  • Let your buyer know what shipping charges are included in the price. 
  • Let your buyer know how quickly you process orders. 
  • Do you have a refund policy? 
  • Anything else that you feel is crucial to completing a successful transaction with the buyer

Again, you may not list any personal contact information in your listing. 

Step 6: Finalize Your Listing 

Ready to get your listing out there? Agree to the Terms and Conditions and your SC will review and approve your listing.

If you’re not quite ready to post your listing, you can still click “Save as draft” and your listing will not be published.

What you shouldn’t sell on empowr

The 2 most common reasons listings are rejected from being sold on empowr include:

1 - You cannot sell anything that is considered “insufficient value” - meaning that products such as “1 paperclip” or “1 plastic cup” are items that you would never see being sold on their own in any reputable ecommerce store and thus have “insufficient value”
2 - You must list all digital content as Premium Blogs
Listing Approval Process
When you first list something for sale in the marketplace, it will be automatically approved and instantly listed to your profile and the marketplace for the community to view, bid and purchase. Your listing will then be reviewed by Success Coaches after it’s live, so you don’t have to wait.

How it works:
Each empowr citizen has a listing approval rate.
Your rate is determined by taking the number of marketplace listings you’ve had approved out of the last 10 listings you’ve submitted.
Example: If 7 of your most recent 10 marketplace listings were approved, your listing approval rate is 70%.
Based on a citizen’s listing approval rate, citizens will then be classified in 3 categories:

Auto-approved: Citizens with a listing approval rate of 90% or greater will have their marketplace listings “auto-approved” and immediately available for sale on empowr. To help get you started, every empowr citizen has a listing approval rate of 100%.
Manually approved: Citizens with a listing approval rate lower than 90%, but greater than 50% will not be able to take advantage of the auto-approval functionality, but instead will have their marketplace listings available for sale once it has been reviewed and approved.
Blocked: Citizens will not be allowed to list anything in the marketplace for 7 days once they drop below a listing approval rate of 50%. Once the 7-day block is over, citizens will have their listing approval rate reset at 100%.

It is very important to keep your listing approval rate over 90%.
Why? Because if you’re waiting for approval, you might miss your Daily Goal because it includes listing products as one of the requirements.
Hitting your Daily Goal is the biggest part of how your accelerated matured cash outs are determined.
One last reminder: emphasis on QUALITY!
How Can Citizens Help Keep the Marketplace Productive?

To further ensure that listings are of sufficient quality citizens have the ability to report any listing that you believe violates the empowr marketplace guidelines.
Reporting a listing is a completely anonymous: No one will know that you reported it. 
To report a listing that does not belong in the marketplace, simply click on the listing, and click “Report”

Buying an Item in the Marketplace 

There are two ways to buy products and services on empowr - a fixed price purchase or winning via an auction bid.

Purchasing with your empowr balance
empowr citizens can spend can spend a percentage of their 0-day profits in the marketplace based on the frequency with which they hit their Daily Goal and the daily earnings option that they are subscribed to.
To maximize the amount of profits that citizens can spend, they should work towards hitting their Daily Goal every single day, and be at the highest daily earnings option possible (currently Platinum).
Pay Now 

"Pay Now $0.00" allows buyers to make a purchase or bid without paying for the item upfront. This feature makes it even easier to Sponsor items because you can use the earnings from the Sponsored sale to pay for the original purchase. 

To use the “Pay Now $0.00” feature, you must meet the buyer’s requirements for an item. Each seller will have different buyer requirements set for their products.

If you do not meet the buyer requirements, your will be notified why you are not eligible.

 After the Sale 


Once you have purchased a product or won an auction, you have 72 hours to: 
  • Sponsor (re-sell) the item (if applicable) 
  • Pay for the item and keep it for yourself 
  • Make an Unpaid Item
If a buyer chooses to keep the item for themselves, funds will remain as "Pending" in both the buyer and seller’s empowr balance until the buyer marks "Item Received" from the “I’ve Bought” page.
By clicking “Item Received,” the buyer is completing the transaction and their funds will be released to the seller. If the buyer does nothing, funds will automatically be released to the seller after 30 days. 

Unpaid Items 

By marking an item as "Unpaid", you effectively cancel the transaction entirely, which means you do not have to pay for the item.

(Note: if you mark too many items as "Unpaid" within a 30 day period, you may lose the ability to "Pay now $0.00". Additionally, there is a 5% restocking charge that is added to your balance based on the price of the item that you purchased. Be sure to only make marketplace transactions for items you intend to buy or Sponsor)

Transaction Disputes 


Both buyers and sellers have the ability to file a dispute on a sale. When this happens, a message thread is created where both the buyer, seller, the Success Coaches of the buyer and seller, and an empowr representative are attached.

As a Success Coach, it is your job to mediate the dispute and come to a final decision on what is going to happen to the sale that makes both the buyer and seller satisfied. 

When you receive a notification about a dispute, mark it with a yellow "star" in your inbox. This will make it easier for you to keep track of active disputes. 

Most importantly, RESPOND TO THE DISPUTE IMMEDIATELY to find out what the buyer/seller would like to happen. 

Be impartial - work out what both the buyer and seller would like to happen, so that the dispute can be resolved amicably and quickly. 

Once you have worked out a resolution, the empowr representative will do whatever they need to do to that sale - refund, etc. 

NOTE: It is your responsibility to resolve the dispute, NOT the empowr representative's. Maintain communication with both the buyer and seller until you reach a conclusion.
